About: Over 30 years of general contracting experience, specializing in historic buildings and fire/flood rebuilding led me to the gulf coast after Katrina/Rita to elevate homes to reduce flood risk and flood insurance rates for 1,500 families. I am a Certified Flood Plain Manager (CFM). My work now involves primarily education, public and government officials and design professionals, about the multiple benefits of flood hazard mitigation, elevation and dry flood proofing. Flood mitigation projects also preserve property values and vital property taxes so important to our schools and government operations. Recently I worked with other members of our flood mitigation industry to create the Flood Mitigation Industry Association - FMIA to help further our industry goals of educating about the value of flood hazard mitigation of our built environment.
